Dermatology & Plastic Surgery

Do you or someone you know suffer from dermatological issues or disorders that affect your skin’s health, your appearance or both? You are not alone!

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the functions and structures of the skin, nails, and hair.

Did you know that your skin is your body’s largest organ? Its role is to completely cover and to protect your body, and also to help you feel the environment outside.  When the skin is irritated, inflamed or clogged, it reacts with symptoms such as redness, burning, swelling or itching.  Allergic reactions, such as itching or other conditions, may also result.  Skin can be troubled by many different disorders.  Some are simply nuisances that are short term and easily treated, but others may be extremely troublesome and can last for long periods of time.

Many dermatological problems, such as acne or eczema (atopic dermatitis), can affect your appearance.  We routinely conduct research studies in conditions and afflictions of the skin.

Current studies being Conducted at Axiom Research Include:

Prurigo Nodularis and Hidradentis Suppurativa.

SYMPTOMS OF PRURIGO NODULARIS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Hard, itchy nodules (lumps) on the skin
  • Intense itching (to the point of pain and bleeding with scratching)
  • Additional lesions that form with scratching

SYMPTOMS OF HIDRADENITIS SUPPURATIVA (Acne Inversa) MAY INCLUDE:

  • Longterm skin disease
  • Inflammed and swollen lumps
  • Lumps are painful and break open releasing pus or fluid
  • Commonly affect the underarms, under the breasts and groin area
  • Scar tissue remains after healing
  • May result in depression from an altered appearance

Are you (or someone you know) experiencing one or more of the symptoms listed above? If so, you may be interested in enrolling in a research study, to determine if a newly developed investigational medication is effective for you. If you would like more information please contact us and our experienced staff will discuss the research study with you and answer any questions that you may have. As a participant, you will receive physician visits and study medication at no cost. You do not need insurance and you may be compensated for your time and travel expenses.
